Saudi Arabia realizes that fossil fuel may become inessential before the middle of this century and thus seeks to invest more in renewable energy, said oil minister Ali Al-Naimi.
“We realize in Saudi that eventually… there may not be a need for fossil fuel… I don’t know when, may be by 2040 or 2050. So, we began a programme to develop solar energy,” Said Al-Naimi
The minister said he hopes that, someday, the Kingdom will export electricity instead of fossil fuel. However, he predicted fossil fuel to dominate energy mixture in the near future, according to Aleqtisadiah newspaper.
