Cairo – Mubasher: The costs of delivering external utilities to Egypt’s new capital amount to EGP 5 billion, said Mazen Hassan, vice chairman for financial and administrative affairs at the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA).

He said the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces (EAAF) has already begun work on the utilities for the administrative capital, which was unveiled at March’s economic summit in the resort town of Sharm El-Sheikh.

NUCA is a partner in the ownership of the land and will extend water, electricity and roads to the new city, Mazen told Mubasher on the sidelines of a conference organised by Al Sadat Academy’s Management Department.

He added that the internal utilities will be executed in cooperation between NUCA and a group of investors.

Mazen revealed that NUCA will reclaim 10,000 feddans as part of the 1 million feddan-reclamation programme in cooperation with the EAAF.

Egypt previously signed an agreement with the UAE’s Eagle Hills during the economic summit to establish a joint venture with the government to build the new administrative capital at an investment of $45 billion.
