Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahleb issued a decree on Wednesday that saw the appointment of new government representatives to the board of state-owned landline monopoly Telecom Egypt (TE).

The new board members are: Mohamed Salem, Tarek Abu Aalam, Khaled Sherif, Ahmed Abdel-Salam, El-Sayed El-Desouky, Osama Yassin and Iskandar Teema.

The appointment will be effective starting 27 May until the end of the current term, according to the government’s official statement.

TE’s new board will convene a meeting later on Wednesday to select a chairman and CEO.

A source told Mubasher earlier today that TE decided to replace the company’s CEO, Mohamed El-Nawawy.
