Asian stock markets ended Thursday on mixed board, as Japan’s Nikkei Index gained 79 points to settle at 20,551 points, backed by retail sales which rose 5% in April for the first time in four months on an annual basis.

China’s Shanghai Index dropped 6% or 324 points to close below 5,000 points.

Meanwhile, China’s Hang Seng Index fell 2.2% or 627 points to 27,454 points.
