UAE-Mubasher: The UAE ministry of economy cooperates with its strategic partners in the private and public sectors through organising eight commercial exhibitions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) until the end of 2016, said Mohammed Shalwah, assistant undersecretary for economic affairs.

He added that the UAE has 300,000 SMEs, dominating 92% of the local companies.

The SMEs contribute around 60% to the local GDP, Shalwah said, adding that the government aims to raise this contribution to 70% by 2021.

The official indicated that the country plans to bolster this sector which will accordingly enhance the local economy.
