Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s government has laid down a plan that targets luring 20 million tourists by 2020, revealed Samy Mahmoud, Head of Egyptian Tourism Authority.

Arab tourists will account for 35% of the target number, with revenues of up to $26 billion to be injected in the national economy, he added.

The official also noted that the government took several measures to remove obstacles hindering a revival in tourism activity that stalled after the popular uprising that toppled former autocrat Hosni Mubarak in 2011.

Egypt's tourism revenue rose 3.1% in the first half of 2015, compared with the same period last year, the tourism minister said earlier.
