QSE rebounds after four-day slump

Doha-Mubasher: Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) maintained a positive performance on Monday, gaining 0.85% or 99.03 points to reach 11,750.29 points.

Al Rayan Islamic index inched up 0.03% to reach 4,536.44 points, whereas QE All Share index went up 0.71% to 3,144.37 points.

Trading volume reached 4.7 million shares exchanged through 4,061 transactions, with turnover of QAR 239.55 million ($65.71 million).

Selling pressures and oil prices plunge turned the 11,800-point level to a selling zone and accordingly the investors should exit near the levels of 11,800 and 11,900, said capital market analyst Mohamed Sonbol.

The liquidity fell 50% below its average level, according to Sonbol.

The analyst noted that cash owners are waiting for the index to reach 11,000 and 11,300 points respectively.

The insurance sector led gainers after adding 65.71%, while the services and consumer goods lost 0.71% to the only decliner.

The telecom sector advanced 2.50%, backed by Ooredoo and Vodafone Qatar which gained 2.66% and 2.12%, respectively.

The banking and financial services inched up 0.52% due to a decline in Qatar National Bank by 1.86%.

The real estate sector increased 1.19% due to a rise in Ezdan Holding Group by 1.51%.

Qatar Insurance Company was the best performer after gaining 5.05%, while Medicare Group led losers, falling 3.13%.

Masraf Al Rayan was the most active company with trading volume reaching 1.19 million shares valued at QAR 52.10 million.
