UAE – Mubasher: The UAE’s fuel price committee has stated that oil prices for the month of September have been reduced by 18% for diesel fuel and 8.5% for gasoline, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported via Twitter.

The new prices will be effective midnight on 1 September in all UAE petrol stations.

Diesel prices have been reduced by 10.1% to AED 1.86 per litre, while those of octane 98 (super grade), gasoline 95 (special) and E Plus 91 have been cut 8%, 8.4% and 8.7% to AED 2.07, AED 1.96 and AED 1.89 per litre, respectively.

In July, the UAE government decided to deregulate fuel prices as of 1 August, resulting in an increase in petrol prices after the new pricing policy of linking UAE oil prices to global prices was adopted.

The move is aimed to help lower fuel consumption by encouraging residents to use alternative eco-friendly public transportation.
