Cairo-Mubasher: Egypt’s consumer price index (CPI) advanced by 2.8% in September from a month earlier, the government statistics bodysaid on Thursday.

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) added that the rise in inflation was mainly attributed to increase in the prices of vegetables, butane cylinders, meat and poultry.

Thus, the country’s inflation witnessed in September its highest rise since July 2014 when it hit 3.6%.

In August, Egypt's CPI edged up 0.6% on monthly basis.
