Dubai – Mubasher: The U.S. dollar retreated Thursday against a basket of global currencies after minutes of the Federal Reserve meeting that bolstered expectations of a rate rise next month.

The minutes from last month’s Federal Reserve meeting showed most officials anticipated economic conditions could be strong enough for a December interest-rate increase.

The greenback fell against the basket of currencies by 0.22% to 99.44.

The euro exchange rate rose by 7.56 GMT by 0.20% to 1.0681 per dollar. The sterling pound also increased by 0.26% to 1.5274 per dollar, while Japan’s yen fell by 0.23% to 123.35 per dollar.
