Mubasher: Muscat Securities Market (MSM) sagged on Wednesday, continuing the bear run to the sixteenth successive session and falling to its lowest level since mid-December.
The main index MSM30 fell by 0.81% or 46.70 points to close at 5,695.8 points. Sharia Index lost 0.47% or 4.20 points to end at 895.32 points.
A total of 10.6 million shares changed hands in 471 transactions at turnover reaching OMR 3.02 million.
The services sector was the biggest decliner, shedding 1.09 %, followed by financial and industrial with a fall of 0.85% and 0.53%, in a row.
Out of the 44 companies traded today, 4 moved up, 25 moved down and 15 others remained flat.
Oman & Emirates stock was the best performer, with a rise of 1.11%, while Al Jazeera Steel led decliners with a drop of 9.74%.
Bank Nizwa recorded the biggest traded volume of 2.75 million shares, while Bank Muscat came on top with a traded value reaching OMR 948,120.
