Tadawul continues rise; banks sector slips

Riyadh – Mubasher: Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) ended Sunday on a positive note, extending a bull run to the fourth successive day. It gained 0.18% or 13 points to close at 7,251.64 points; its highest close since 26 October. The four-day gains reached 1.43% or 102 points.

The banks sector ended in red, shrugging off the rise of its three major stocks, dragged by the eight stocks were down.

Al Rajhi advanced by 0.06%, NCB (+0.24%) and Samba (+0.09%). Meanwhile, SABB was the biggest loser in the sector with a fall of 1.79%, followed by ANB with a 1.12% decline.

Ten sectors shut in green, mainly media and publishing (+4.66%), followed by telecommunications (+1.53%) and cement (+1.52%). Meanwhile, four other sectors were in red, with energy and utilities remained unchanged.

The number of rising stocks increased to 100 from 75 on Thursday, while the number of falling stocks decreased to 59 from 72.

Traded volume rose by 8.6% to 227.5 million shares from 209.5 million shares. Turnover also increased by 3.1% to SAR 4.57 billion from SAR 4.43 billion.
