Kuwait – Mubasher: Dr. Naif Al-Hajraf, chairman and executive director of the Capital Markets Authority revealed that the market regulator’s new executive bylaw includes – for the first time – the ability to issue sukuk or bonds for the private sector.

The stock market company will work on establishing a secondary market for trading such sukuk or bonds, said the top official, calling upon the government to list its planned bonds that will go for financing the state budget deficit.

Al-Hajraf expected investment funds to offer several investment opportunities in the coming period following the new amendments to CMA’s bylaws.

Kuwaiti Finance Minister Anas Al Saleh said previously an agreement was reached on the final draft for the issuance of bonds and sukuk to finance the country's budget deficit.
