EGX30 jumps 3.6% in a week; gains EGP 9bn

Cairo-Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange's (EGX) indices showed varied performance last week, with the market capitalisation rising EGP 9.37 billion ($1.2 billion) to EGP 400.69 billion, compared with EGP 391.32 billion a week earlier.

The bourse got a boost from Arab and national buying.

EGX30 rose as much as 3.6% or 215.44 points to close out the week at 6,202.22.

Sameh Gharib, head of technical research at Roots Securities, said EGX30 bounced early last week from 5,895, to close the week at the 6,202 level.  

He added investors should monitor the index's performance at the current levels, noting that the benchmark was supported by few stocks especially CIB.

The gauge will test the next resistance at 6,300 and support at 5,526, Gharib said, noting that if the index breaches the 5,526 level, it will decline further to 5,150 pts.

EGX70 dropped 1.8% or 6.41 points to 349.46.

Gharib said as long as EGX70 holds position above the 345 level, it will likely rise to 360, noting that the index faces support at 323 pts.

EGX100 dropped 0.88% or 6.28 pts to708.61, while EGX50 moved 1.55% higher to 1,116.02, with a gain of 16.99 pts.
