Egypt’s bourse closes on negative note; benchmark down 2.76%

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices declined collectively on Tuesday, as the benchmark index EGX30 lost 2.76% to close at 6,174.7 points on selling pressures by foreign investors.

The small and mid –caps index EGX70 fell 1% to 349.01 points, while the broader index EGX100 slide 1.08% to 702.31 points.

The equal weighted index EGX50 declined 1.53% to 1,081.8 points.

The heavy weight Commercial International Bank sagged 3.25%, while the stocks of Talaat Moustafa and Palm Hills fell 4.7% and 4.27% respectively.

On the front side, the stocks of Orascom Telecom Media and Madinet Nasr Housing went up by 4.7% and 4.27% respectively.

Out of 156 stocks traded today, decliners outnumbered advancers by 95 to 25, while 36 stocks remained unchanged.

Local and Arab investors came as net buyers with EGP 17 million and EGP 7 million respectively, while foreign investors ended as net sellers with EGP 25 million.

The market capitalization shed EGP 5.6 billion, reaching EGP 392.7 million.
