ADX rises for 3rd session in row

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) closed in the green for the third successive session in a row amid a rise in trading activity on Wednesday, backed by the real estate, banks and energy sectors.

The general index went up 1.57% or 66.45 points to reach 4,288.61 points.

Trading volume reached 85.099 million shares on Wednesday, compared to 52.62 million shares on Tuesday.

Turnover stood at AED 134.431 million, compared to AED 87.6 million.

The real estate sector topped gainers after rising 3.13%, spurred by Aldar Properties and RAK Properties which added 2.75% and 3.45%, respectively.

Aldar was the value leader after generating AED 37.15 million.

The banks sector grew 2.14% as First Gulf Bank (FGB) and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) went up 3.4% and 2.03%, respectively.

The energy sector advanced 1.97%, backed by TAQA which grew 8.93%.

The telecom sector recovered 0.58% due to a rise in Etisalat.
