Cairo-Mubasher: Egypt's Suez Canal revenues rose by 0.6% in the first quarter of 2016, according to the Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC).
Revenues reached $882.4 million in Q1-16, compared to $876.7 million in Q1-15.
The number of vessels that passed through the canal stood at 4,178 in Q1-16, up 2.7% from 4,067 vessels recorded in Q1-15.
The volume of world trade transported via the canal declined to $16.5 trillion in 2015 from $19 trillion in 2014. However, IDSC expected a growth in the world trade by 2.8% and 3.6% in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
