Mubasher: US economic growth improved in the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2016, according to US Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Gross domestic product rose by 0.8%, up from the prior estimate of 0.5%, according to US Bureau of Economic Analysis.

US Department of Commerce mainly ascribed this improvement to consumer spending that increased by 1.9%.

“The increase in real GDP in the first quarter primarily reflected positive contributions from personal consumption expenditures (PCE), residential fixed investment, and state and local government spending that were partly offset by negative contributions from nonresidential fixed investment, exports, private inventory investment, and federal government spending,” according to the Department’s official website.
