Telecoms, real estate boost QE early Tuesday

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QE) general index opened at a rise in Tuesday’s early trades, adding 0.31% or 29.91 points to reach 9,668.86 points by 10am Doha time, backed by the telecom and real estate sectors.

Turnover reached QAR 21.2 million after 587,337 shares were traded through 513 transactions.

Four sectors were in the green, led by telecommunications with 1.63% as Ooredoo and Vodafone Qatar gained 1.9% and 0.66%, respectively, while the real estate sector increased 1.07% on the back of Ezdan, Barwa and Mazaya Qatar.

The insurance and transport sectors grew 0.60% and 0.26%, respectively.

On the other hand, three sectors were down, led by consumer goods and services, which retreated 0.27%, followed by the banks and industrial sectors which lost 0.17% and 0.16%, respectively.

National Leasing led risers, adding 2.76% to QAR 16.75 and was the most traded with a volume of 78,125 shares traded, whereas Qatar Industrial Manufacturing topped fallers, shedding 3% to QAR 40.

Gulf Warehousing was the most active in terms of turnover with QAR 3.3 million.

QE closed Monday in the green, rising 0.71% or 68 points and closing at 9,638.95 points.
