Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) announced on Tuesday that it has signed two purchase agreements with a consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power and China’s Harbin Electric for the Hassyan clean coal power project.

The project is aiming at producing 2,400 megawatts (MW) of electricity using clean coal, according to a statement.

Dewa works to achieve the fifth pillar of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which focuses on creating an environmentally-friendly energy mix, with 25% coming from solar energy, 7% from nuclear power, 7% from clean coal, and 61% from gas by 2030,” Dewa’s CEO,  Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said.

The project is planned to be completed by March 2023.
