The Turkish lira rose on Monday, after the Turkish central bank issued new measures to provide liquidity and ensure financial stability, to avoid negative implications of failed coup attempt.

By 8:20 GMT the lira rose 2.7% against the US dollar, to TRY 2.9539 per dollar.

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey said its precautions included providing unlimited lira liquidity to banks, according to an official statement.

On Friday, the lira reached its lowest rate against the dollar since 23 May, after some Turkish army leaders attempted a coup by taking over power and overthrowing the current government.
