ADX breaks 2-day losing streak

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) reversed the negative performance it maintained for two sessions on Wednesday, backed by the rise of the real estate, energy and banks sectors amid volatile trading activity.

The general index advanced 0.63% or 28.97 points to reach 4,612.38 points.

Trading volume fell 14.5% to 129.83 million shares on Wednesday, compared to 151.85 million shares on Tuesday. Turnover reached AED 256.35 million, compared to AED 243.08 million.

The real estate sector led gainers after adding 3.52% as Aldar Properties went up 4.32%, its highest level since November 2014.

The energy sector also gained 1% after Dana Gas recovered 1.7%.

The banks sector grew 0.6% as Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) and First Gulf Bank (FGB) advanced 0.97% and 0.82% respectively.
