Ministry of Petroleum studies new projects in western desert gas complex

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum said it is currently studying implementing three projects in the western desert gas complex to extract LPG & condensates, Ethane /propane mixture and commercial propane.

Western desert gas complex is operated by the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (Gasco Company).

Meanwhile, the ministry is working on carrying out two projects for transporting gases from Raven field in the north of Alexandria concession area. The projects value is estimated of $105 million (EGP 937 million).

The two projects are expected to start operations by mid-2019, where the ministry targets to transport 450 million cubic feet per day.

Western desert gas complex is the first NGL plant in Egypt producing the ethane propane mixture for petrochemical industry and commercial propane. The $220 million plant started its regular production in the mid of year 2000 in Al-Amerya area at Alexandria. The plant receives & treats 900 MMSCFD of western desert gases from Al-Obayed (Bapetco), Salam , Tarek and El-Qaser (Khalda) fields.
