RAK visitors up 7% in 2016

Dubai - Mubasher: The total number of visitor arrivals to Ras Al Khaimah between January and July 2016 increased by 7%, compared to the same period in 2015, according to Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (TDA).

This shows another successful year for the region’s fastest growing tourism destination, according to TDA’s press release.

In July, the hotel occupancy for Ras Al Khaimah’s hotels grew by 36.7% year-on-year, demonstrating increased demand for the emirate.

Total guest nights also grew by 15.2% year-on-year, while the average length of stay in Ras Al Khaimah’s hotels rose 7.7%.

“With access to 64 kilometres of pristine beaches, a unique desert and the highest mountain in the UAE located just 45 minutes from Dubai International Airport, Ras Al Khaimah’s hotels and resorts continue to grow,” said Haitham Mattar, CEO, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority

The domestic UAE market continues to represent Ras Al Khaimah’s largest source market representing over a third of all visitor arrivals, while visitors from the GCC markets grew by 3.8%.

Tourism from Europe to Ras Al Khaimah has also increased by 45%, led by strong growth from Germany by 68%, and the UK by 33.2%
