ADX sees marginal weekly gains

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) witnessed a marginal rise in the week ended 25 August, amid the decline of trading activity.

The general index went up 0.03% or 1.38 points to reach 4,519.83 points

Turnover reached AED 642.59 million this week, compared to AED 870.49 million last week. Trading volume stood at 368.48 million shares, compared to 329.39 million shares.

The energy sector was the worst performer with a 1.79% decline, weighed down by TAQA and Dana Gas which declined 1.92% and 1.75% respectively. The real estate sector decreased 1.52% as Aldar Properties tumbled 2.11%.

The banks sector went down 0.02% due to a decline in Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) by 2.88% and 0.32% respectively. However, First Gulf Bank (FGB) rose 0.84%.

On the flipside, the telecom sector increased 0.76% as Etisalat grew 0.76%.
