EGX benchmark down 0.97% on foreign investors selloff

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed on negative note on Sunday, on selling spree by foreign investors.

The benchmark index EGX30 went down 0.97% or 79.26 points to the level of 8,050.23 points.

The small and medium caps index EGX70 slide 1.18% to 358.66 points, while the broader index EGX100 eased 0.95% to 803.30 points.

Following suit, the equal weighted index EGX50 lost 1.21% to close at 1,366.12 points.

The stocks of CIB, largest constitute of EGX30, gained 0.08% with 282 million shares changed hands worth EGP 13.7 million.

The market witnessed trading value of EGP 261.8 million upon trading EGP 80.3 million.

The market capitalization shed EGP 3.6 billion ($409.2 million) reaching EGP 408.6 billion.

Foreign investors ended as net sellers with EGP 57.2 million, while local and Arab investors ended as net buyers with EGP 52 million and EGP 5.2 million respectively.
