Mubasher: Discussions on a possible agreement allowing reduction of oil offer surplus are on the good track, the secretary general of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo said on Tuesday in Algeria.

In reply to reporters, on the sidelines of the International Energy Forum, about a possible agreement among the members of OPEC, which will hold an informal meeting on Wednesday, Barkindo said it depends on the consultations under way, Algeria Press Service (APS) reported.

"We are working hard to make a success of the informal meeting," OPEC’s secretary general stressed.

He explained that the discussions were part of a long process launched in Doha, Qatar, during a meeting of big oil producers last April.

“The process launched by oil producers is increasingly growing and, after the meeting, the consultations will be extended to non-OPEC producing countries and consuming nations," he added.
