Kuwait – Mubasher: The Kuwaiti administrative court, on Wednesday, has ruled to suspend the decision of increasing gasoline prices, due to a procedural defect.

According to the sentence, the decision to raise gasoline prices had a procedural flaw as it wasn’t submitted to the Supreme Petroleum Council.

Nawaf Fezia, the lawsuit filer, told Mubasher that the court’s ruling will not suspend the decision immediately, as prices will remain unchanged until the court of appeal renders a judgement.

Fezia noted that the administrative court saw that the price increase is a hidden tax, not a cost of a commodity.

In earlier September, the Kuwaiti government raised fuel prices by more than 60%, as Octane-91 increased to 85 fils per litre from 60 fpl, Octane-95 rose to 105 fpl from 65 fpl and the ultra-Premium rose to 165 fpl from 95 fpl.
