El-Sisi forms new supreme investment council

Cairo - Mubasher: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has issued a decision on Tuesday to create a Supreme Investment Council which he himself will chair, according to the official Egyptian Gazette.

The members of the council will be the prime minister, the governor of the central bank, as well the ministers of defence, military production, finance, investment, interior, justice, and trade and industry.

The council will also include the heads and chairmen of the general intelligence directorate, the administrative control authority, the general authority for investment, the federation of Egyptian industries, and the Egyptian union for investors associations.

According to the decision, the council will be focused on following Egypt’s ratings in the international reports and journals, and to update the country’s investment map.

The council will also discuss and follow the execution of the investment plans, programmes, and strategies, and will monitor the development of the national mega projects and the partnerships with the private sector, as well as drawing the main frame of the legislative reform and creating a pro investment environment and policies.

The council’s decision will be binding to all the ministries and the public institutions, according to the decision.
