Kuwait – Mubasher: Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has launched on Wednesday Sedra 500 plant, the first solar power plant in Kuwait.

With an overall cost of KWD 30 million ($100 million), the solar plant has production capacity of 10 megawatts which will save 20% of KOC’s power needs.

Half of the power production will be allocated for the company’s needs in Um Qadir field, west of Kuwait, while the other half will be directed to the public electric network of Kuwait, CEO of KOC Jamal Jaafar said in a press conference.
