Mubasher: The MSM 30 index of the Muscat Securities Market fell at Monday’s close by 0.6% or 32.9 points to the level of 5,486.22 points.

Trading volume increased to 42.69 million shares from 5.33 million shares exchanged on Sunday, turnover also rose to OMR 16.29 million from OMR 1.19 million.

The index was pressured by the fall in blue chips as Ahli Bank, the worst performing stock, fell 4.76%, National Bank of Oman slid 3.36%.

The financial sector retreated 1% as Dhofar International shrank 4.15%. Ominvest made the highest trading activity with a volume of 26.65 million shares exchanged at OMR 12.95 million.

The services sector retreated 0.24% due to the fall in Phoenix Power and National Gas by 1.43% and 1.32% respectively.

The industrial sector declined 0.1% as National Aluminum Products decreased 3.5%, while Oman fisheries, up 1.67%, topped gainers.
