UAE consumer prices up in January

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: UAE consumer prices rose 2.29% year-on-year in January 2017, according to a report by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority (FCSA).

The consumer price index (CPI) went up to 107.19 points in January 2017, compared to 104.8 points in January 2016.

The CPI increased 0.7% month-on-month in January 2017, the report highlighted.

The miscellaneous goods and services group increased 9.31%, followed by the costs of healthcare and education which rose 5.66% and 4.99%, respectively.

On the other hand, Dubai saw the biggest rise in consumer prices at 3.66%, followed by Fujairah, Ajman, and Abu Dhabi at 2.9%, 2.3%, and 1.8%, respectively.
