Dubai – Mubasher: Local UAE companies have received around two thirds of contracts awarded in the construction sector to host the Dubai Expo 2020, Emarat Al Youm newspaper reported, citing the exhibition’s vice president of real estate Ahmed Al Khatib.

Abu Dhabi-based Tristar Engineering and Construction has won the infrastructure award at the site where the expo will be held, the top official revealed.

Meanwhile, Dubai-based Khansaheb is currently working on establishing the roads that will be used to go to and from the expo’s site, Al Khatib added, according to the newspaper.

Al Naboodah Group for Enterprises and Al-Futtaim Carillion, both of which are based in Dubai, were awarded contracts for the upcoming Dubai Expo 2020. The first has already executed civil works for the project, while the latter was given a contract to build one of the site’s private wings, the newspaper added.

At the end of January this year, the Expo 2020 Dubai office announced plans to award 145 contracts totalling AED 11.36 billion ($3.09 billion) in 2017.
