QSE closes with banks down

Doha - Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) general index ended Sunday’s trading session shedding 0.22% or 22.5 points, reaching 10,338.55 points.

Four sectors dragged the index down, led by banks with 0.48% due to a drop of Qatar Oman Investment Company (QOIC) by 1.43%, Qatar Islamic Bank (QIBK) by 1.08%, and Qatar National Bank (QNB) by 0.21%.

The real estate sector also went down 0.06%, weighed by Ezdan Holding which retreated 0.19%.

On the other hand, three sectors rose, led by the communications sector with a hike of 0.82%, which was backed by Ooredoo and Vodafone Qatar rising 0.89% and 0.44%, respectively.

The transportation sector was up 0.3%, as goods and consumer services rose 0.24% due to Widam’s increase by 2.6%.

Liquidity retreated to QAR 268.23 million on Sunday against QAR 2.18 billion on Thursday, while 8.19 million shares were traded against 48.01 million shares in the previous session.

Vodafone Qatar topped trading volume with 2.29 million shares, as Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIK) which retreated 1.01% was the value leader with QAR 71.22 million.
