Kuwait - Decypha: The Kuwaiti government has earmarked $1 billion for marketing and promotion of the country, to be invested between 2017 and 2024.

 

Additionally, Kuwait has numerous multi-billion mega projects in place to welcome the 440,000 visitors a year by 2024, according to data released by the Arabian Travel Market (ATM).

 

Some of the mega projects include Madinat Al Hareer and Silk City, Kuwait International Airport expansion project, and Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Islamic Centre.

 

To initiate its tourism strategy, the state is planning to establish a Supreme Commission for Tourism.

 

Travel and tourism investment in Kuwait will increase by 1.5% yearly over the next decade to KWD 135.6 million in 2027, revealed a report from the World Travel and Tourism Council.

 

In 2016, 70% of Kuwait’s visitors were corporate travelers and 6% were visiting for leisure, according to Colliers International Kuwait Hospitality Market Snapshot.

 

The forecast for 2017 promises a strong recovery and continued growth up to the year 2026 to reach KWD 501.3 million. Leisure travel spending is expected to increase by 4.5% annually to reach KWD1,939.1 million in 2026. Projected growth for 2016 is 8.7%.
