Industry, banks push QSE down at Wednesday closing

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) ended Wednesday’s trading session 0.85% or 89.55 points lower, reaching 10,395.98.

Turnover declined to QAR 416.38 million on Wednesday, compared to QAR 502.92 million on Tuesday, while traded volumes retreated to 11.38 million shares against 13.54 million shares.

Sectors collectively dropped, led by industry with 1.63% through the decrease of Qatari Investors Group (QIGD) and Industries Qatar by 4.63% and 1.75%, respectively.

The banks sector fell 0.85%, led by Dlala Holding with 4.03%, Islamic Holding Group with 2.78%, and Qatar National Bank (QNB) with 1.36%.

The real estate sector decreased 0.49% with Barwa, Mazaya, and Ezdan tumbling 1.85%, 0.8%, and 0.06%, respectively.

The insurance sector also retreated 0.94% as Qatar General Insurance (QGI) was the biggest loser, dropping 7.87%.

Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) was the most traded stock with 2.43 million shares and liquidity of QAR 164.96 million.

The main index of the QSE had retreated 0.80% mid-session on Wednesday.
