Dubai's tourism industry sees 12% growth in 2017

Dubai – Decypha: Dubai received three million tourists during the period between January and February 2017, marking a 12% growth in comparison to the same period the previous year, according to a statement by Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism).

In particular, visitors from China and Russia are viewed as the main drivers of the growth seen in Dubai’s tourism industry. January alone has seen a peak of 102% of incoming tourists from China, attracting a total of 157,000 Chinese visitors during the first two months of 2017.

Similarly, Russian visitors have increased by 84% during the same period, with February in particularly seeing 140% increase in number of tourists. Total Russian visitors during the first two months of 2017 amounted to 65,000 tourists.

Dubai has witnessed a total of 14.9 million overnight visitors in 2016, up 5% in comparison to 2015, according to Arabian Business.

UAE is aiming to attract 20 million annual tourists by 2020.
