Tadawul down at close for 3rd day in row

Riyadh - Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) continued Wednesday its downward trend for the third consecutive day, seeing its biggest daily decline rate in March.

The Tadawul All Shares Index (TASI) ended Wednesday’s trading session down 1.16%, losing 80.48 points, and closing at the level of 6,832.3, the lowest in six sessions.

Traded values decreased to SAR 2.98 billion ($795 million) compared to SAR 3.08 billion ($821 million) on Tuesday.

On the other hand, traded volumes marginally increased to 152.7 million shares up from 150.2 million shares yesterday.

All of the market sectors closed in red, except for REITs which added 0.42%, as Jabal Omar gained 1.33% and closed at SAR 68.50.

Media and publishing saw the biggest decline at 3.44%, on the back of Tihama, as well as Marketing and Research, which lost 4.72% and 3.2%, respectively.

The materials sector index also went down by 1.37%, as SABIC declined 0.85% to SAR 95.50.

Banks fell 1.33%, as NCB and Al Rajhi decreased by 2.26% and 0.08%, respectively, closing at SAR 38.50 and SAR 63.

The telecom sector levelled down 0.48%, as all of its stocks declined, led by STC which lost 0.37% and reached the level of SAR 66.75.

As for the stocks’ performance, 161 closed in red, while only eight closed in green. Al Rajhi Takaful was the biggest loser and dropped 4.74%, while WAFA Insurance led gainers and surged 5.51%.

Alinma was the most active in both traded values and volumes, with 28.3 million shares and a total turnover of SAR 411.36 million.
