Number of KSA hotels rises 6% in 2017

Riyadh – Mubasher: The number of hotels in Saudi Arabia has risen 6% in 2017 to reach 2,040, compared to 1,900 at the end of last year, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage stated.

The authority reported that the number of furnished residential units in the Kingdom increased by 4% to reach 6,940 units in the current year, compared to 6,690 units in 2016.

The capacity of accommodation facilities went up by 17% to reach 506,700 rooms in 2017, compared to 421,107 rooms in 2016.

The annual report showed that the number of travelling agencies increased by 16% to reach 2,300, while the number of tour organisers surged 30% to reach 519 in 2017 compared to 2016.

The number of licensed hotels reached 1,670 hotels while the number of the unlicensed hotels reached 368 hotels.
