CBK issues KWD 200m bonds

Kuwait - Mubasher: The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) has issued bonds worth KWD 200 million due in three months to control the banking sector’s liquidity, according to Alanba newspaper. 

The yield on the new bonds reached 1.5% and the bonds were four times oversubscribed.

The CBK’s bond issues reached eleven so far in 2017.

They included KWD 1.1 billion six-month bonds with an  average yield of 1.4% and three-month KWD 1.2 billion bonds with an average yield of 1.3%, the newspaper added.

Earlier this month, the CBK issued KWD 240 million in bonds to regulate market liquidity.

Kuwait’s finance minister declared that his country seeks to increase proceeds from bonds to KWD 20 billion from KWD 10 billion and increase their maturity to 30 years.

He added that the country intends to issue sukuk as other kinds of debt offerings.
