Mubasher – Dubai: Japanese paint and coatings manufacturer Kansai Paint aims to expand its activities in GCC countries, according to a company press release on Wednesday.

The company targets to establish up to 50 distribution centres during the upcoming period in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, tapping into the $3.6 billion coatings industry in the region.

“Kansai Paint is seeking to build its position in key strategic markets in the years to come, which includes the MENA & CIS markets,” the company’s president and representative director, Hiroshi Ishino, said.

Having more than 1,000 employees in the Middle East, the company aspires to become a global company and compete on the world stage, exploiting the tremendous potential in MENA and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) markets, he added.

Ishino visited Dubai for the company’s annual sales meeting, following Kansai’s launch of its first design centre in Jeddah.

The company, established in 1918, also refurbished its Umm Suqeim Design Centre and set up a new paint store in Al Ain.
