QSE ends Thursday down on transport, industrials

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Thursday in the red losing 0.53% or 54.35 points, reaching 10,241.61 points.

The transportation sector led losers with 1.29%, as Milaha, Nakilat, and Gulf Warehousing lost 2.04%, 0.97%, and 0.57%, respectively.

The industrials sector shed 1.03% after Gulf International, Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company, and Qatar National Cement tumbled 4.96%, 2.05%, and 1.78%, respectively.

The banks sector levelled down 0.44% after Islamic Holding Group, Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ), Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB), and Masraf Al Rayan decreased 1.82%, 1.64%, 1.42%, and 1.41%, respectively.

On the other hand, the insurance sector gained 0.98% backed by Doha Insurance’s 4.75% gain. The telecoms sector went up 0.34% after Ooredoo increased 0.48%.

Liquidity rose to QAR 274.1 million on Thursday against QAR 176.65 million on Wednesday, while trading volume reached 11.57 million shares against 8 million shares in the previous session.

Vodafone Qatar’s stock led in terms of trading volume and value after 3.68 million shares were exchanged at a value of QAR 35.37 million.

Earlier on Thursday, the benchmark index dropped 0.76% to 10,217.69 points.
