QSE sheds 209.86 pts in week

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed 2.01% or 209.86 points lower, reaching 10,241.61 points in the week ended Thursday, against 10,451.47 points in the previous week.

Liquidity dropped 11.02% reaching QAR 970.06 million against QAR 1.09 billion, while trading volume rose 16.27% to 45.09 million shares against 38.78 million shares in the week before.

QSE’s market capitalisation fell 1.65% to QAR 552.22 billion ($151.52 billion), compared to QAR 561.46 billion ($154.1 billion) in the week earlier, recording a market loss of QAR 9.24 billion.

The banks sector led in terms of trading volume with 35.94%, followed by the telecoms sector with 19.69%, the real estate sector with 18.02%, and the industrials sector with 12%.

Stock prices of twelve out of 44 companies rose, while the stock prices of 30 companies decreased, as two remained stable.

Vodafone Qatar’s stock led the weekly trading with a stake of 16.6% of total liquidity, followed by Ezdan Holding with 6.46%, and Qatar National Bank (QNB) with 5.49%.
