Coca-Cola to collect, recycle 100% of products by 2030

Mubasher: Coca-Cola on Friday announced it aims to collect and recycle all of its products and use more recycled materials in its packages by 2030.

The US beverage giant expected bottles to be 50% made of recycled content, as it’s trying to create environment-friendly products, using strategies like developing plant-based resins and reducing the amount of plastic it uses.

Coca-Cola’s announcement comes after beverage companies were criticised for their containers’ negative effects on the environment.

With this move, the company joins several other companies in revealing actual plans to create a better and healthier environment.

France’s Danone said on Thursday that its mineral water brand Evian would make its bottles from 100% recycled plastic by 2025, while PepsiCo pledged last year to make 100% of its packaging recyclable by the same year.

"Consumers around the world care about our planet, and they want and expect companies to take action. That's exactly what we're going to do, and we invite others to join us on this critical journey," Coke’s CEO James Quincey said.
