Egypt’s inflation rises 1% in May
Egypt’s annual inflation stood at 13.2% in May

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s consumer price index (CPI) grew by 1% month-on-month to 311.1 points in May, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Monday.

The CAPMAS ascribed the increase in inflation rate to the price hikes of fruits by 18.1%, meat and poultry by 3.6%, bread and grains by 0.7%, and fish and seafood by 1.2%.

In addition, prices of ready-made garments rose by 1.3%, while prices of medical products and equipment went up 5.5%.

Egypt’s annual inflation stood at 13.2% in May, compared to 11.5% in the same month a year earlier.
