South Korea, Jordan sign $18m grant agreements
Grant agreements worth $18 million or around JOD 12.7 million were signed by Jordan’s Planning Minister Ibrahim Saif and South Korean Ambassador to Jordan Choi Hong-ghi.

The Korean ambassador highlighted his country’s commitment to developing cooperation with Jordan "for years to come". He also underlined added that the importance of Jordanian-Korean relations.

The agreements aim to help Jordan carry out three projects in different sectors, the Jordan Times reported, citing Saif as saying.

The first $4.2 million grant will be directed to establishing and equipping the Amman, Tabarbour and Northern Twal comprehensive healthcare centers, while the second $5.5 million grant will go to the Education Ministry to build a center for deaf people.

The third $8.5 million grant will go towards establishing an e-procurement system for the General Supplies Department.

The Kingdom has received seven soft loans from Korea since 1992 to implement developmental projects of national priority, Saif highlighted, adding that Korea has also provided Jordan with grants worth $23.1 million between 2004 and 2013.

“Currently, there are four projects under implementation with loans from the Korean Bank that stand at $184.4 million,” Saif said.
