Jordan’s Cabinet gave the green light for the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) to ink an agreement with Shell to purchase liquefied natural gas from the oil and gas giant, reported Petra.
The Cabinet had designated NEPCO, as buyer of natural gas, to negotiate with Shell the terms of the deal, under which 15% of Jordan's energy needs will be covered.
Worth noting, Shell had been chosen from competitive tenders submitted by a number of local and international bidders to a special committee assigned by the government to take the necessary steps for the purchase of natural gas at best prices.
