Turkish Airlines puts off flights to Libya

Turkish Airlines has announced the suspension of all its flights heading to Libya, after cancelling yesterday’s services for security reasons.

Such decision was made after canceling two flights for security reasons, following the airstrikes which took place in Misrata, for the second time, while a Turkish Airlines passenger aircraft was at the airport, reported Libya Herald.

“Our flights to Misrata have been suspended until further notice, due to operational reasons,” said Deputy Head of Media Relations for Turkish Airlines, Ali Genc.
It is worth mentioning that Misrata Airport was not targeted, yet the nearby military aviation academy has been hit, in addition to the port and the LISCO iron and steel works.

Noteworthy, Turkish Airlines has confirmed that no decision had yet been taken regarding their charter cargo flights to Misrata.
