Algerian Prime Minister Abdel Malek Salal has inaugurated the Algerian-Omani fertiliser plant (Al-Djazaïria al-Omania Lil Asmida) at an estimated cost of $3 billion, Al Zaman reported, adding that this project comes as part of the ongoing projects related to exporting Omani expertise abroad.

Saad bin Suhail Bahwan Board Chairman of Suhail Bahwan Group Holding (SBGH)and Board Chairman of the Algerian-Omani Company revealed that the project is a joint investment between SBGH, which owns a 51% stake in the plant, and Algeria’s Sonatrach Group, which owns 49% in the project that will produce ammonia and urea fertilisers.

Production capacity for the fertiliser plant is estimated at 4,000 tons per day of ammonia, which will allow the production of 7,000 tons per day of urea. Some of the production will go to the local market, while the remainder will be exported to global markets that have a strong demand for these types of fertilisers.
