Mubasher: The Muscat Securities Market (MSM) closed Thursday on a negative note, as the main index, MSM 30, declined by 0.48% or 23.66 points to 4,867 points, the lowest level since April 2009.
The Sharia Index also closed down 0.41% to 799.97 points.
Trading volume decreased 44.54% to 8.89 million shares, versus 16.04 shares exchanged yesterday.
Turnover dropped 31.62% to OMR 2.57 million from OMR 3.76 million on Wednesday.
The market value reached OMR 15.13 billion, compared to OMR 15.16 billion yesterday, dipping 0.21%.
While no sectors hit the green column, the financial, industrial and services sectors lost 0.68%, 0.50% and 0.09%, respectively.
Renaissance Services was the top performing share after rising 0.91%, while Alizz Islamic Bank was the weakest after falling 7.02%.
Ominvest was the most active share after 2.15 million shares were exchanged at OMR 970,450.
MSM 30 dropped yesterday 1.83% or 91 points to 4,890.65 points.
